The KCWC is excited to offer, for the fifth year,
our winter youth program for wrestlers ages 5 through 14 (as of January
1, 2010)!
Our program:
Our program provides an encouraging environment for young wrestlers
where they can learn about the sport of wrestling, and improve their
skills before entering the Kennett Middle and High School wrestling
programs.
Wrestling is often the child' first
experience with an individual sport. Therefore our focus is not on
winning or losing, but having fun. Our goal is to
encourage hard work and dedication, build self-esteem, instill good
sportsmanlike qualities and help your child achieve his / her goals.
We want the skills, experiences and lessons that your child learns from
our program to stick with them throughout their lives.
Contrary to the common misconception
about wrestling, KCWC wrestlers are not encouraged
or allowed to lose or “cut” weight.
Wrestlers compete with other kids the same age, weight and
experience-level.
Our coaches:
Our program is run by certified wrestling coaches who also serve as
coaches for the Kennett Middle and High School programs.
Volunteers with prior wrestling experience also assist with practices
and meets. (All coaches and volunteers have completed background
checks and clearances.)
Wrestlers from the Kennett Middle and High School programs also get
involved and act as mentors to our youth wrestlers.
Winter Program Details:
Weekly club sessions are
held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and there are two sessions each
night.
6:00 PM – 7:00 PM:
Beginner Wrestlers
7:00 PM – 8:30 PM:
Advanced Wrestlers
*Coach Boyer will notify you of which session each wrestler
should attend prior to the start of the season.
The program will run from
November 5th to March 9th. The club meets in
the Kennett High School Wrestling Room (enter at the back of the school
near the athletic fields). Click on the calendar link for all dates and
times.
Costs / Registration Information:
The winter program includes over 16 weeks of wrestling
from November through March, a club t-shirt and 5 weekend meets
throughout the season.
The cost to participate in
the Kennett Community Wrestling Club is $100 per wrestler. The
second wrestler in the family is $85.
Register and pay online using the following link:
